You may arrive with a sketch, a physical reference you are entitled to use, or production-ready CAD. The next stage depends on the completeness of the brief and the development required.

A defined development journey.

• Discuss the design, audience and target cost.
• Agree development deliverables, fees and revision rounds.
• Review the CAD and material specification.
• Commission and evaluate a physical sample where agreed.
• Approve the final specification and production quotation.

Initial order quantities and timelines are assessed by project. Ask for a practical starting scope rather than assuming every design requires the same minimum order.

Make ownership explicit.

Your development agreement should address existing intellectual property, new CAD files, moulds, manufacturing rights and any exclusivity. Confidentiality and permission to display finished work should also be agreed before sensitive information is shared.

When adapting an existing design, you are responsible for having the rights or permission needed to manufacture it.
