Ask to see work that demonstrates the requirements of your own designs. A simple band will not tell you everything about complex pavé, an articulated bracelet or a setting for an unusual gemstone.
Inspect the finish, proportions, stone alignment, functional parts and areas that touch the skin. Where practical, commission a sample of your own design before approving a batch.
Clarify where each stage happens.
Ask which stages are performed directly and which involve specialist partners. Understand who is responsible for communication, material custody, quality checks and resolving problems.
Compare complete quotations.
A low headline making charge may exclude development, setting, samples, finishing or other requirements. Compare quotations using the same specification and ask for all inclusions, exclusions and payment milestones.
Check how the gold price is fixed, how final weight is reconciled and how changes after approval are priced. The useful comparison is the cost of the agreed finished result.
Confirm quality and delivery expectations.
Ask how the approved sample and specification are recorded, what inspection takes place and how an issue will be handled. Agree the procedure for variations, defects, repairs and missed milestones in your project terms.
Request a realistic schedule that includes your own approval time and the availability of materials. A delivery promise without a defined scope is difficult to evaluate.
Address intellectual property early.
Discuss confidentiality, design ownership, CAD files, moulds and permission to display work. If exclusivity matters, identify the exact designs, territory and duration rather than relying on a general promise.
Think beyond the first order.
Ask what is needed to reorder, whether minimum quantities differ by design and how specifications are retained. Reliable communication and repeatable quality can matter as much as the opening quotation.
